Oily skin is the result of overactive sebaceous glands in the skin producing an excess of sebum, giving the skin a glossy appearance. Where this does have some benefits such as locking in natural moisture, reducing the risk of wrinkles as we age, it also can increase the risk of acne and other skin blemishes… and often isn’t the most desirable situation for our skin.
Some suffer from oily skin in the T-Zone area of the face, primarily the forehead, nose area, and chin. Others suffer from oily skin over the whole face. But what can be done if you suffer from oily skin? Here are our top tips for caring for oily skin.
If you suffer from oily skin, one of the best things you can do is regular cleansing. Regular cleansing helps remove excess sebum from the skin, while also removing dirt and toxins that may accumulate, increasing the risk of acne. In extreme cases, cleansing twice and even three times daily is recommended. For cleansing oily skin, choose from Jordan Essentials Gentle Foaming Cleanser, Jordan Essentials Gentle Cleanser, Jordan Essentials Complexion Bar (especially if you suffer from acne along with your oily skin), and Jordan Essentials Activated Charcoal Soap. All Jordan Essentials cleansers are carefully formulated to help maintain a healthy skin pH balance with gentle ingredients that deep clean without any harmful, harsh, or toxic ingredients.
More than any other skin type, oily skin benefits from consistent and regular exfoliating. If you suffer from oily skin, start a routine of adding this step to your skincare regimen at least once and preferably two times per week. Exfoliating with Jordan Essentials Gentle Exfoliant or Jordan Essentials Cucumber Spa Polish can help smooth the skin, remove dead skin cells caused by the excess sebum production, and help avoid breakouts.
Weekly face masks with Jordan Essentials Detoxifying Clay Mask or Jordan Essentials Purifying Charcoal Mask greatly benefit oily skin. Masks go deeper on cleaning to pull toxins and impurities from the pores while also removing excess sebum from the skin. The key with oily skin is to gently remove the excess oil while still supporting a healthy skin balance, and a great way to do that is with the gentle and effective ingredients found in Jordan Essentials’ Masks.
Daily toning with Jordan Essentials Toner Mist after cleansing, exfoliating, and a mask treatment will help in eliminating excess oil and banishing dirt from the skin.
Contrary to popular belief, oily skin does still need moisturized. Excess sebum on the skin does not mean that the skin has a proper moisture balance, and Jordan Essentials Acne Support Moisturizer with Willow Bark Extract, Daily Moisturizer, or Red Wine Moisturizer will gently moisturize and help balance the skin. Stripping the skin of moisture will only encourage the sebaceous glands to produce more sebum, which counteracts everything you are trying to achieve. Instead of stripping the skin of moisture, following the JE regimen followed by JE Moisturizer will support a healthy sebum level in the skin.
